One can die of gulve. However, the Ngladiwe lineage can treat the illness. Charcoal and mahogany oil is mixed with vavanz gulve and applied to the body of the sufferer. The charcoal will take away the yellow. Also, if a girl refuses to marry a man to whom she has been promised, a hair of the girl can be used together with a part of her dress and thrown into vavanz gulve. This way she can contract the illness.
